- Summary: Tabernacle Baptist Chapel was built in 1835, rebuilt in 1842 and again in 1896. The later chapel was designed by architect George Morgan of Carmarthen and builder J. Jones of Glanynant and built in the Romanesque style of the gable-entry type. The chapel has two storeys and a large arch in the facade, set over a triple, round-headed window. The doorway is Romanesque with three orders of arches with different mouldings, supported on four sets of pilasters to either side. To the rear of the chapel there is an organ and a narrow passage into a large meeting hall/Sunday school, which also has two reasonable sized rooms to the rear. Tabernacle is now Grade 2 Listed.
RCAHMW, July 2010 - Description: Built in 1835, modified, altered or rebuilt 1842 and 1897, architect G.Morgan of Carmarthen and builder J.Jones of Glanynant. Built in the Romanesque style, gable entry type. A prominent feature of this Chapel is the large arch in the facade.
Chapel has two storeys, with stairs either side of the central doorway. To the rear of the chapel there is an organ and to either side there is a through room to a narrow passage that takes you into a large meeting hall/Sunday school, which also has two reasonable sized rooms to the rear. My great great grandparents were married in Kinnerton Chapel in Old Radnor on 21st May1850. I have been searching for information on the Chapel, so was pleased to find this website.
