- Summary: Windsor Place Presbyterian Chapel was built 1865 to the design of architect Thomas Pilkington of Cardiff and extended in 1892 by architect E M Bruce Vaughan of Cardiff. The present chapel, dated 1865, is built in an elaborate Gothic Style of the long-wall entry type with an integral tower and richly decorated interior. The chapel was gutted by fire in 1910 and renovated by Bruce Vaghan. Windsor Place is now Grade 2 Listed.

EXTRAORDINARILY ELABORATE AND DIVERSE ELEVATIONAL TREATMENT INCLUDING SPIRE; RICH USE OF MASONRY, MATERIALS AND DECORATION; DRAMATIC AND EVENTFUL ROOF BOTH INSIDE AND OUT; RICHLY DECORATED STONE CORBELS AND PULPIT WITH ELABORATE CANOPY PROJECTING OVER FROM THE ORGAN. EXTENSION ENCOMPASSING NORTH PORCH (1970s) AND INTERNAL ALTERATIONS (early 1990s) INCREASE VIABILITY AND USAGE OF CHURCH BUILDINGS.
Large hall / school rooms to E demolished 1970's.

'1866 by Thomas Pilkington; fine Gothic building of romantic conception. Front of church extended in 1893; in 1910 church gutted by fire and subsequently renovated by Colonel Bruce Vaughan but without variation in design. Pink stone with pale ceam ashlar dressings. Slate roofs. Shallow curved transeptal design; interEsting internal plan. West end gabled with arcade of 2-cented arches above ground level plinth; quatrefoil windows over and above this again in centre part of gable 4 slender and cloumned trefoil headed openings with circular foil over. Porches to both (north) and south returns. South Tower surmounted by octagonal spire; 4 large louvred openings with Y-shaped tracery and surmounted by gables attached to 4 sides at base of spire; at half-height 4 small gablets attached to the other alternate sides of spire (see Trinity Church, Irvine, Ayrsgire, also by Pilkington.' - Interior Rebuilt: 1910 Source:

My great great grandparents were married in Kinnerton Chapel in Old Radnor on 21st May1850. I have been searching for information on the Chapel, so was pleased to find this website.
