- Summary: Soar Methodist Chapel was built in 1824, enlarged in 1838 and rebuilt in 1887. This later Chapel was built in the Sub-Classical style with a central doorway in a gable front. The chapel had two storeys, and a large hall/school built at the rear. Soar closed in 1977 and was demolished in 1981. A new Catholic Church has now been built on the site.
RCAHMW, April 2010 - Description: Chapel built 1824; enlarged 1838 & rebuilt/modified 1887 (1896). Closed 1977 and demolished in 1981. This Chapel was of a sub-classical style, central doorway into a gable front. Chapel was a two storey chapel, and as part of one of the rebuild phases, had a large hall/school built onto the rear of the chapel.. Status(1994): demolished in 1981.
A small meeting house was built 1n 1824, enlarged in 1838 and a new even larger chapel built next to it. The chapel was closed in 1977 and later demolished. A new Catholic Church was then built on the site. Inf. From "A History of The Villages of Hirwaun and Rhigos" by Selwood, N.,1997, p.73-4.

My great great grandparents were married in Kinnerton Chapel in Old Radnor on 21st May1850. I have been searching for information on the Chapel, so was pleased to find this website.
