- Summary: Bryn Seion Independent Chapel was built in 1910 in the Gothic style with a gable-entry plan, to the design of architect Henry Herbert of Ammanford. The Norman and Beard organ and pipes were added in 1911. Bryn Seion closed in 2004 but the building is Grade 2 Listed.
RCAHMW, April 2010 - Description: Chapel built 1909-10 in Gothic style, gable entry type, to the design of Henry Herbert of Ammanford. The Norman & Beard organ and pipes were added in 1911. Building is listed Grade 2*. Status (1998): in chapel use.
Main walls; gable façade, square rough dressed stone. Arches, quoins, lintels, tracery including mullions & transomes to windows walls & doorways of a smooth dressed stone. Side elevations are of random stone rubble rendered with cement plaster facing including the rear of building. Style of the gable façade is essentially Gothic. Roofs are of timber framing clad with Welsh slate. Interior furnishings are of exceptional quality with many interior features of note that bear great resemblence to Capel Ebenezer WI Abergwili and Capel Newydd WI Llandeilo, possibly designed by the same architect. My great great grandparents were married in Kinnerton Chapel in Old Radnor on 21st May1850. I have been searching for information on the Chapel, so was pleased to find this website.
