- Summary: Caersalem Methodist Chapel was built in 1860 in the later Vernacular style of the gable-entry type. The chapel was restored in 1894 and converted into residential accomodation in 1995.
RCAHMW, February 2010 - Description: Cause established & chapel built 1860. Built in the later Vernacular style, gable entry type. Status (1999): other (residential).
Single storey rectangular Calvinistic Methodist chapel with nearby chapel house. Recently converted to private dwelling. Orientated approximately east-west.
Pitched slate roof with ceramic ridge tiles, modern gabled dormer windows break eaves line of both side elevations. Pebble-dashed elevations.
East gable front elevation - raked fascia board. Cement rendered lattice decoration above cement string course in gable. 2 long rectangular windows flank low central porch. Windows originally had shouldered cement rendered architraves and projecting slate sills. Upper portion of windows now blocked, lower with modern glazing. Central porch has low pitched slate roof with red ceramic ridge tiles, fascia board. Curved segmental headed doorway (now with modern window inserted) with stressed cement rendered shouldered architrave at gabled front, plain sides.
North and south side elevations originally had 3 long rectangular windows with shouldered cement rendered architraves and protruding slate sills. Window in centre of south wall retains original architrave and sill intact.
Plain west/rear gable elevation.
Interior has been substantially altered.
Chapel house ranged along southern side of chapel forecourt. Under modern slate roof. Originally double fronted with segmental headed windows and central porch with single pitch slate roof on north side. Built of rubble masonry partially pebble-dashed with slightly dressed quoins. Stone gable stacks. Extended to west to gable height, with lower gabled wing on northside.
Chapel forecourt enclosed at front by low pebble-dashed walls surmounted by hooped rails headed with stylised leaves. Limestone gate posts for double gates (now missing).

My great great grandparents were married in Kinnerton Chapel in Old Radnor on 21st May1850. I have been searching for information on the Chapel, so was pleased to find this website.
