- Summary: A Sunday School was established in 1819 and the first Cefn-Iwrch Methodist Chapel built in 1828. This was restored in the 1860's (G.Jones, 'Capeli Mon', p77)and then rebuilt in 1896 in the Sub-Classical style of the gable-entry type. Cefn-Iwrch closed during the 1970's and has since been convertd into a house. The north-west pedimented front is still visible but the windows have been altered and a porch added at the front.
RCAHMW, February 2010 - Description: Sunday School established 1819 & first chapel built 1828; rebuilt/modified 1896 & closed in the 1970s. Built in the Sub-Classical style, gable entry type. Status (1999): other (residential).
Simple rectangular Calvinistic Methodist chapel in classical style. Converted to dwelling house, floor inserted. Orientated approximately east-west.
Pitched slate roof with ceramic ridge tiles, and central ridge tile vetilator. Pebble-dash elevations.
West entrance front - flat coping, moulded triangular cement pediment. Small square window with cement architrave and projecting sill at centre of pediment. 4 rectangular windows with stressed cement architraves, in pairs - one window directly above the other, flank modern replacement porch with hipped roof. Originally single long windows probably with round headed arches just below the pediment cornice flanking central entrance. Cement gable junction visual above porch. Stressed rusticated quoins at corners. Cement rendered plinth.
South elevation - originally 3 rectangular windows spanning the height of the building, now altered to provide 4 smaller window openings, a central doorway and wide garage door. Stressed cement shouldered architraves with keystone projecting above. Stressed rusticated quoins at corners, cement plinth. North elevation similar to south, also altered - now with 6 six rectangular window openings. East gable end - plain pebble-dash below raked cornice.
Interior altered - few original features remain.
Chapel house - detached double fronted house immediately south of chapel. Pitched slate roof, 2 rendered stacks, pebble-dash elevations, rendered sill and lintel bands, stressed rusticated quoins at corners. Modern windows and door.
Chapel forecourt surrounded by low rubble wall with limestone capping, limestone gate posts for wrought iron barred gate with spearheaded decoration.

My great great grandparents were married in Kinnerton Chapel in Old Radnor on 21st May1850. I have been searching for information on the Chapel, so was pleased to find this website.
