- Summary: The Methodist cause in Bodedern was established in 1822 and the present chapel largely dates from the same year, though it has had some later modifications. It was the birthplace of the Wesley Bach Movement around 1831, but returned to Welsh Wesleyanism in 1904. Soar Methodist Chapel was rebuilt in 1880 in the Simple Round-Headed style with a long-wall entry. it is now Grade 2 Listed with the attached chapel house.
RCAHMW, June 2009 - Description: Cause & chapel date from 1822, with some later remodelling. The birthplace of the Wesle Bach Movement ca. 1831, returning to Welsh Wesleyanism in 1904. Built in simple round-headed style, long-wall entry type. Building is listed Grade 2. Status (1998): in chapel use.
Built 1822. Simple cement-rendered building with slate roof. 3 round-headed windows. Small gabled porch. The birthplace of the Wesle Bach movement, as the result of restrictions placed on Methodist preachers in 1831. My great great grandparents were married in Kinnerton Chapel in Old Radnor on 21st May1850. I have been searching for information on the Chapel, so was pleased to find this website.
