- Summary: Tabor Independent Chapel was first built in 1792 as a Friends' Meeting House, by the Quaker landowners, Dorothy & Rowland Owen, to serve the Quaker Meeting which had previously met at their home, Tyddyn y Garreg. The Meeting was discontinued in 1845 and the building bought by the Welsh Independents whi in 1847 converted it to Tabor Chapel. The present chapel, dated c.1850, is built in the Vernacular style with a gable-entry plan.
RCAHMW, January 2010 - Description: Completed in 1792 as a Friends' Meeting House, by the Quaker landowners, Dorothy & Rowland Owen, to serve the Quaker Meeting, which had previously met at the house at Tyddyn y garreg, home of the Owens. The Meeting was discontinued in 1845 (D M Butler, The Quaker meeting houses of Britain (1999), p. 867). Bought by the Welsh Independents in 1847?, and subsequently reconstructed as Tabor Chapel (D M Butler). Although reconstructed, does present chapel incorporate part of the original Quaker wall structure? Built in vernacular style, and entered via porch attached to blind, slate-hung gable entry; 3 flat-headed windows with wooden lintels in SE return; basement storey. Later C19 box pews in chapel interior. Status (2001): chapel.

My great great grandparents were married in Kinnerton Chapel in Old Radnor on 21st May1850. I have been searching for information on the Chapel, so was pleased to find this website.
