- Summary: Tabernacle United Reformed Chapel was built in 1721, rebuilt in 1778 and again in 1836. The present chapel, dated 1836, is built in the Simple Gothic style to the design of architect T. Hope. It has a gable-entry and mid-nineteenth century and later internal fittings, and is now Grade 2 Listed.

Hope, joiner. Mid/later C19 internal fittings. Date of chapel: 1836. Building is listed Grade 2. Status (2001): in chapel use.
The cause was formed in 1688 (2001 United Reformed Church Year Book). The chapel was first built in 1721 (1851 Religious Census; MHLG; BCS/BGC; date plaque, illustrated in J B Sinclair & R W D Fenn, Marching to Zion: Radnorshire chapels (1990)) ; it was rebuilt in 1778-87 (BCS/BGC), and also in 1836 (1851 Religious Census; MHLG; BCS/ BGC; Sinclair & Fenn, op. cit.), when it was designed by T. Hope, joiner (Cadw; date plaque & Sinclair & Fenn). Mid/later C19 internal fittings (OMJ). Status (2001): in religious use.

To SW of the town centre. On a levelled site above the road near junction with Church Street; to R of Old Police Station.
Chapel of 1836, by T Hope, architect. Grey squared stone to front, rubble sides and rear, slate roof.
Gabled front has pointed-arched window to upper floor (Y-tracery). On ground floor, central Gothic arched entrance doorway in shallow porch. To each side, Gothic arched window. To sides, each floor has 2 windows with paired of Gothic lights. Chimney to L side. - Built: 1721 Source:Religious Census

My great great grandparents were married in Kinnerton Chapel in Old Radnor on 21st May1850. I have been searching for information on the Chapel, so was pleased to find this website.
