- Summary: Seion Methodist Chapel was built in 1867, to the design of architects W. & G. Audsley of Liverpool, in the Romanesque style of the gable entry type and with flanking towers. Seion was demolished in 1979 and replaced by Capel y Groes in 1981.

"The towers at each corner of the front of the chapel enclose staircases which give access to the side galleries. Within, the chapel is 27 yards long by 14 broad, and provides accommodation for 800 people. Behind, is th schoolroom, built in 1884, which is entered from Egerton Street". Also given are numbers of communicants & etc for 1869 (extract and information from Alfred Neobard Palmer, A history of the town and parish of Wrexham, part 4, History of the town of Wrexham (Wrexham: Woodall etc., 1893; reprinted 1997 by Bridge Books, pp. 80-1).
The demolition of the 1867 building "a sad loss, for it was by W & G Audsley of Liverpool, and had fanciful capitals (carved by Stirling) and some polychromatic brickwork. Round-arched, and a frontage with 2 towers surmounted by slated spires, into which tall louvred openings rose as lucarnes" (extract from Edward Hubbard, Clwyd, in the Buildings of Wales series (1986), p.304). - Built: 1867 Source:Hubbard, Edward

My great great grandparents were married in Kinnerton Chapel in Old Radnor on 21st May1850. I have been searching for information on the Chapel, so was pleased to find this website.
