Henllan Welsh Baptist Chapel is a mid-late C19th, slate-roofed, stone and brick built end gable façade chapel with 2-tier fenestration, 3-sided gallery, bench seats and end lean-to vestry. The front façade is in brick with brick arched openings to doorway and windows, while the rear and side walls in stone, have stone segmental arches to flat windows, except at each side, by the vestry, where they have a brick surround. The windows have small pane casements and margin glazing.
The central entry leads into a lobby with tiled floor, flanking stairs to gallery and doorways to aisles. Painted marble effect cast-iron columns with roll moulded capitals support a raking gallery with fielded and painted walnut effect panelling to its parapet. The pine benches and furniture are of high quality with a square, railed & baluster 'sedd fawr'. A raised pulpit is reached by twin side stairs all with rails and balusters. Underneath a hinged board floor is a cement lined baptism tank with steps to one side. Against the wall, behind the pulpit is a pedimented and panelled reredos. A pair of arched windows above have coloured glazing, while the others in the room are plain. The plaster ceiling is plain with a ribbed edge to narrow coving and simple plaster rib moulding forming three squares. The roof-truss is of tie-beam and king-post with raking-struts type, having 3 pairs of purlins (see drawing).
A stone plaque over the front entrance records in Welsh (see photo) the buildings development: built 1812, re-built 1836, refurbished 1884 and 1927.
The vestry with internal doorway to the chapel, has a blocked fireplace, an arched wall cupboard and interior vertical tongue & grooved to walls.

Hello
My great great grandparents were married in Kinnerton Chapel in Old Radnor on 21st May1850. I have been searching for information on the Chapel, so was pleased to find this website. I have now located it on Google Street View – looks like someone is ‘doing it up’ to live in: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@52.2612635,-3.1095337,3a,90y,232.95h,84.26t/data=!3m9!1e1!3m7!1s-8DWPORkq2RFVNXBLde_-g!2e0!7i13312!8i6656!9m2!1b1!2i53?hl=en-GB
The marriage record of my ancestors Abraham Bounds and Elizabeth Williams is attached. I hope it is of interest.
All the best
Saira
