- Summary: Siloa Welsh Independent Chapel was built in 1868 by Thomas Jones of Dolau. It has a colourwashed stuccoed exterior below a roof of Welsh slate. The chapel is entered via a gabled stuccoed porch with an arched doorway, adjoining the lateral facade. Flanking the porch are four long arched windows with eight panes each and Y-tracery heads, beneath moulded hoods with keystones and stops.
The chapel interior is simple and ungalleried, with two blocks of painted grained numbered box pews with simple panel backs and doors, slightly raked to the rear. There are further box pews to either side of the set fawr, with continuous panelling across the back of the set fawr and the pew doors. The small pulpit has canted angles, vertical panels and moulded cornice. Behind the pulpit is a painted arch. The ceiling is plastered and painted with sloping sides and the lower part of the two collar trusses is visible.
Large enough for a congregation of 120 in 1905 (Royal Commission on the Church of England and Other Religious Buildings in Wales and Monmouthshire census), when it was valued at £325 - Description: Chapel built 1868 in simple round-headed style, long-wall entry type. Status (1998): in chapel use.

Hello
My great great grandparents were married in Kinnerton Chapel in Old Radnor on 21st May1850. I have been searching for information on the Chapel, so was pleased to find this website. I have now located it on Google Street View – looks like someone is ‘doing it up’ to live in: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@52.2612635,-3.1095337,3a,90y,232.95h,84.26t/data=!3m9!1e1!3m7!1s-8DWPORkq2RFVNXBLde_-g!2e0!7i13312!8i6656!9m2!1b1!2i53?hl=en-GB
The marriage record of my ancestors Abraham Bounds and Elizabeth Williams is attached. I hope it is of interest.
All the best
Saira
