- Summary: The cause at Bwlch-y-Groes started in 120 and the first Independent Chapel was built in 1835. this was subsequently rebuilt in 1880. A Sunday scholl was started in 1830.
The current chapel is built of snecked stone in the sub-Classical style. It is a gable entry chapel, with the main facade facing to the road, and surrounded by an enclosed graveyard. The facade has a distinctive giant arch which encloses the round-headed doorway and similar window, both of which have Florentine tracery with two circular panes. Above the window is a small date plaque. There are two tall, round-headed windows to the outer bays, with similar glazing., and three openings to the size elevations which have modern replacement windows.
In 1905 (Royal Commission on the Church of England and other Religious Bodies in Wales and Monmouthshire) there were 450 sittings in the chapel which was valued at £1000.
