- Summary: Cilgwyn Methodist Chapel was first built in 1654 on land belonging to Cilgwyn Farm, Llangybi. This building was then rebuilt in 1825 and in 1840, a new chapel was built on a different site belonging to Penybanc Farm. In the 1851 Religious Census it is listed as Arminian Presbyterian, but passed to the Weslayans in 1863. It was renovated in 1906.
The present chapel, dated 1840, is a long-wall entry type built in an extremely simple style with a cement rendered façade. Two round-headed pulpit windows in the centre are flanked by flat-headed doorways with plain boarded doors. Between the windows is a small date plaque. By 1998 Cilgwyn was being used as a Urdd meeting hall.
In 1905 (Royal Commission on the Church of England and other Religious Bodies in Wales and Monmouthshire) there were 200 sittings in the chapel which was valued at £230. - Description: Chapel first built c.1654; rebuilt 1825, 1840 & 1906. Building style is simple round-headed, long-wall entry type. Status (1998): other (Urdd meeting hall).

My great great grandparents were married in Kinnerton Chapel in Old Radnor on 21st May1850. I have been searching for information on the Chapel, so was pleased to find this website.
