- Summary: The cause satred here in the late 18th century, with preaching at the farm of Lloyd Jack. Rhydygwain Unitarian Chapel was built in 1808, and then rebuilt in 1848 and restored in 1873.
The present chapel is built in the Simple Round-Headed style of the long-wall entry type. It has a five bay elevation with a central round-headed window with intersecting tracery, flanked by two doorways with fanlights set with similar glazing. There are two flat-headed gallery windows with sash glazing to the outer bays. In the centre is a circular datestone: "Rhydygwin. Adeiladwyd y Ty Hwn yn y flwyddyn 1848". All the round-headed openings have raised, stucco, hood moulds, theer are raised quoins to the ends. On the left side is an attached chapel house.
The interior has the outer banks of ground floor pews et at an angle to the pulpit, which has a long balustraded front. Behind it is an usual trompe l'oeil painted round-arch frame. There is a five sided gallery, and a plaster ceiling with a small central rose.
Rhydywain is now Grade 2 listed as a well-preserved early nineteenth century chapel with a good interior of 1873 and an unspoilt attached chapel house.
In 1905 (Royal Commission on the Church of England and other Religious Bodies in Wales and Monmouthshire) there were 250 sittings in the chapel which was valued at £950. - Description: Chapel built 1808; rebuilt 1848 & 1893. Building style is simple round-headed, long-wall entry type. Status (1998): in chapel use.

My great great grandparents were married in Kinnerton Chapel in Old Radnor on 21st May1850. I have been searching for information on the Chapel, so was pleased to find this website.
