- Summary: The cause in Pennant began in 1740, with preaching taking place at Ty Llwyd and the Ship Inn where Daniel Rowlands and Howell Harries both preached. Pennant Methodist Chapel was built in 1760, measuring 39ft by 21ft, and was rebuilt in 1793, and again in 1832. Alterations were made in 1883, including the addition of a chapel house. In 1913, field was bought at a cost of £100 from Rhys Edwards, Lanllwyd, for the use of a burial ground.
The present chapel, dated 1883, is built in the Simple Round-Headed style of the long-wall entry type, although the interior was re-order at this date. There are two tall, round-headed windows to the centre of the façade, with two equally long, but slightly narrower, outer gallery lights. There were originally two outer doorways, but in 1883 the left door was blocked. The right door has a raised, gabled surround with fretted bargeboards and pendant over a raised stucco arch with a keystone. There are similar mouldings to the windows. To the centre of the façade os an oval date plaque.
In 1905 (Royal Commission on the Church of England and other Religious Bodies in Wales and Monmouthshire) there were 350 sittings in the chapel which was valued at £700.

Hello
My great great grandparents were married in Kinnerton Chapel in Old Radnor on 21st May1850. I have been searching for information on the Chapel, so was pleased to find this website. I have now located it on Google Street View – looks like someone is ‘doing it up’ to live in: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@52.2612635,-3.1095337,3a,90y,232.95h,84.26t/data=!3m9!1e1!3m7!1s-8DWPORkq2RFVNXBLde_-g!2e0!7i13312!8i6656!9m2!1b1!2i53?hl=en-GB
The marriage record of my ancestors Abraham Bounds and Elizabeth Williams is attached. I hope it is of interest.
All the best
Saira
