- Summary: The cause for Bethesda Independent Chapel started in 1807, the preaching by a Mr Shadrach from a farm called Nantyberfau. Around 1815 a Sunday school was started at Cwmerebach, which after growing in size eventaully moved to the site at Tynant, a house. The cause was under the ministry of Talybont, until October 1872 when they formed an independent church. As the congregation grew, the building became too small and the land was bought from Mr John Griffiths, Tynant.
The first chapel was built in 1850 at a cost of £70, covere mainly through collections, and was rebuilt in 1881. The current chapel is a small, stone building in the Vernacular style, and of the long-wall entry type. The façade has two outer doors By 1998 the chapel had fallen into disuse but is Grade II listed as a good example of a small rural chapel.
In 1905 (Royal Commission on the Church of England and other Religious Bodies in Wales and Monmouthshire) there were 100 sittings in the chapel which was valued at £250.

Hello
My great great grandparents were married in Kinnerton Chapel in Old Radnor on 21st May1850. I have been searching for information on the Chapel, so was pleased to find this website. I have now located it on Google Street View – looks like someone is ‘doing it up’ to live in: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@52.2612635,-3.1095337,3a,90y,232.95h,84.26t/data=!3m9!1e1!3m7!1s-8DWPORkq2RFVNXBLde_-g!2e0!7i13312!8i6656!9m2!1b1!2i53?hl=en-GB
The marriage record of my ancestors Abraham Bounds and Elizabeth Williams is attached. I hope it is of interest.
All the best
Saira
