- Summary: Pen-Twyn Chapel school house was built in 1812 and the chapel later in 1820. The chapel was enlarged in 1849 and rebuilt in 1903. The current chapel, dated 1903, is built in the Sub-Classical style of the gable entry type and with a large arch in the facade.
RCAHMW, July 2009 - Description: School house built 1812 & chapel 1820 or 1824. Enlarged 1841 or 1849 & rebuilt in 1903. Built in the Sub-Classical style, gable entry type. A prominent feature of this Chapel is the large arch in the facade. Status (2000): in chapel use. Date of present building 1903.
Main walls of chapel & vestry of random rubble stone walling rendered over with a cement plaster facing. Roofs are of timber framing clad with Welsh slate.
Notable features are panelled pulpit, balustered set fawr, gallery facia and timbered ceiling. Original oil lamp lighting systems still intact possibly still workable.
