The Baptist congregation was originally at Panteg Chapel, Capel Iwan, but Rehoboth was established in 1808 after a split, when the former congregation joined the Unitarians (information from the Cadw list description of 02/03/1994 for Rehoboth Chapel,Capel Iwan, NPRN 6260).
The chapel here was built in 1764 for Baptists. In 1799 the congregation split between Calvinists and Arminians (D E Davies "They thought for themselves" (1982)). In 1808 part of the congregation joined the Unitarians, who acquired the chapel property; other members formed a new Baptist cause at Rehoboth (NPRN:6260). My great great grandparents were married in Kinnerton Chapel in Old Radnor on 21st May1850. I have been searching for information on the Chapel, so was pleased to find this website.
