- Summary: Priory Street Welsh Independent Chapel was built in 1875-6 to the design of George Morgan of Carmarthen in the Romanesque style with gable entry plan. It was further renovated in 1933, when a new pipe organ by Leonard Crabb was installed. The chapel is in rock-faced sandstone with Bath stone detail and alternating voussoirs of rock-faced grey limestone to openings, below a slate roof, with lead glazing throughout. It is entered via a pair of panelled timber doors beneath an ashlar tympanum with 'Prior Congregational Chapel' incised beneath the arch. Within the chapel is a three-sided raked gallery with wide curved angles and Gothic trefoils.

K Steele, RCAHMW, 10 February 2009 - Description: Chapel built 1875-6 to the design of George Morgan of Carmarthen (cost £2200). Status (1997): in chapel use.
In 1871 the cause met "somewhere in Tanerdy" (Lodwick, Story of Carmarthen (1872)). The chapel is dated 1875; it was built in 1875-6 (Welsh Office), to the design of George Morgan (Anthony Jones), and was opened on 28/5/1876 (Lodwick). The forecourt walls, railings and gates are probably contemporary, the gate posts by Bakers, founders, of Newport.
Shades of George Morgan, but unlikely to be his work in Carmarthen. (but it is).
Sunday School added later. (Anthony Jones) - Dated: 1875 Source:Welsh Office (plaque

Hello
My great great grandparents were married in Kinnerton Chapel in Old Radnor on 21st May1850. I have been searching for information on the Chapel, so was pleased to find this website. I have now located it on Google Street View – looks like someone is ‘doing it up’ to live in: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@52.2612635,-3.1095337,3a,90y,232.95h,84.26t/data=!3m9!1e1!3m7!1s-8DWPORkq2RFVNXBLde_-g!2e0!7i13312!8i6656!9m2!1b1!2i53?hl=en-GB
The marriage record of my ancestors Abraham Bounds and Elizabeth Williams is attached. I hope it is of interest.
All the best
Saira
