- Summary: Elim Independent Chapel was built in 1849 and renovated in 1887. The chapel is built with a long wall entry plan with two doorways flanking a pair of round-headed windows.
RCAHMW, June 2009. - Description: A chapel was built in 1849 or 1850 and renovated in 1887 (date-stone); iron gate piers were added in 1898 and the iron gates stamped "1899" and "J. Thomas." Status (1998): in chapel use. Long wall entry plan with two doorways flanking a pair of round-headed windows.
Iron gates to courtyard by J Thomas of Johnstown, 1899 (so marked).
Simple but well designed, on a good rural site, square plan, pyramidal roof. Mouldings and quoins picked out in dark grey contrasting with the pale grey stucco finish.
Squared doors, rounded window heads. Almost dwarfed by the schoolroom and house combination to left. Graveyard to right.
