RCAHMW, June 2009. - Description: A chapel was first built in 1817 and was rebuilt in 1844 and 1863; and opened 1866, after extension. The present chapel dates from 1874 with further works of 1895. Built in the Simple Round-Headed style, long-wall entry type. Status (2000): in chapel use.
Large chapel with attached schoolroom (PRN 19838) & ancillary rooms, enclosed by large graveyard (PRN 19839) on all sides.
Chapel & schoolroom, adjoining rectangular plans form an imposing elongated single storey frontage off Brecon - Crickhowell road.
Built 1874, stone with ashlar details in simple classical style. Pair of adjoining gable roofs, slate, plain ridge tiles. Schoolroom roof slightly lower.
All woodwork & weatherboarding painted green.
Main façade - S lateral elevation. Two gable ended porches protrude to S. Identical pairs of panelled double doors set in round headed openings with semi-cicular lights.
L porch. Single round headed 6-pane window facing S. Entrance doors face E.
R porch. Single lancet window faces W. Identical faces E. Doors face S.
Chapel S fenestration. Two longitudinal round headed 20-pane sashes with semi-circular lights. Two smaller 12-pane sashes to centre.
Schoolroom fenestration. Four 4-pane sashes with semi circular lights.
W gable end - no features.
N lateral wall forms part of rear boundary.
E gable end. Two semi-circular headed 4-pane sashes with lights to schoolroom.
Interior. Two stone flagged porches with pairs of double wood panelled doors lead into main body of chapel to W & stone flagged hallway between chapel & schoolroom on E. Double entrance doors off hallway to chapel.
Chapel interior. Plastered walls above dado panelling. T & g floor. T & g ceiling above five cross-beams, N - S aligned.
Three aisles separate numbered boxed pews with doors, raked to N. Brass umberella end fittings. Lateral pews to L & R of sedd fawr. Estimated seating capacity 300. Folding front benches to accommodate biers.
Sedd fawr enclosed by t & g panelling incorporating bench seating, S wall.
Decorative frieze repeated on dado & all wooden panels.
Pulpit S wall, semi-octagonal with gothic niches. Four steps lead up to either side. Bench seating for speakers affixed to backboard.
Portable organ H.Christophe, Etienne, Paris. Front lateral pews removed to accommodate organ, R of pulpit.
Two scrolled memorial plaques.
Schoolroom interior. Entrance to schoolroom from N-S hallway via pair of panelled doors.
Plastered walls above dado panelling. Exposed beams.
Fully fitted with original benches with wrought iron fittings that facilitate their adaption to tables.
Single aisle separates two rows of nine benches. Raised platform area to E, rail for curtain affixed E-W. Three original gas light fittings. Free standing cupboards & desk.
Side door to east adjoins slabbed hallway which leads to kitchen, stores, toilets.
Large gate leads into driveway to chapel & graveyard, still in use.
Stable (PRN 19840) located at entrance gate. Stone, slate gable roof, now leased as workshop.
Small stone shed gardeners shed E side of chapel.

My great great grandparents were married in Kinnerton Chapel in Old Radnor on 21st May1850. I have been searching for information on the Chapel, so was pleased to find this website.
