- Summary: ethlehem Independent Chapel was originally built in 1820 andrebuilt in something approaching its present form in 1840. Further alterations were undertaken in 1865 and 1902. the present chapel, dated 1840, was designed by architect Thomas Thomas of Landore and built in the Simple Round Headed style with a gable entry plan. This chapel is now Grade 2 Listed for its special interest as a mid nineteenth century non-conformist chapel.

The chapel stands facing south-east at the centre of its burial ground behind the houses along Broad Street, High Street and Burford Lane. It is approached from Broad Street by what was once an arm of the burial ground, shown on the 1st edition OS County series (Monmouth. XII.13 1880), and is now a small square. The railed forecourt is shown on the second edition of 1901. The chapel shows a simple gabled classical façade, rendered with round-headed windows either side of and above, the central doorway. This has a semi-circular fanlight and is set within a flat-roofed Doric porch.
