- Summary: Gellimanwydd Independent Chapel was built in 1782, rebuilt 1836 and rebuilt/enlarged in 1865. The present chapel, dated 1865, was designed by architect Thomas Thomas of Landore, and restored in 1910 by architect Henry Herbert of Ammanford. The chapel is built in the Classical style with a gable entry plan, stone walls, slate roof, a large arch in the facade and large pane round headed windows.

Gable façade & left side elevation of random sized rough dressed stone work. Vestry rear & right side elevations of random rubble stone walling rendered over with cement plaster facing. Roofs of timber framing clad with Welsh slate. At rear on car park is a large modern styled hall of block or brick walls rendered over & pebble dashed. Roof is of modern type tiles. The Cross Inn Chapel was built in 1782 (date plaque, & Julian Orbach's programme notes for the Vic Soc), rebuilt in 1836, and enlarged (date plaque) or rebuilt (J Orbach, op cit) in 1865, at both times during the Ministry of The Rev. John Davies, who renamed it the "Christian Temple"; it was altered again in 1910 (date plaque & J Orbach), possibly to the design of Henry Herbert, to whose Capel Gwynfryn it bears some resemblance (J Orbach).). My great great grandparents were married in Kinnerton Chapel in Old Radnor on 21st May1850. I have been searching for information on the Chapel, so was pleased to find this website.
