- Summary: Seion Independent Chapel was built in 1896 in the Vernacular style with a gable entry plan, rubble stone walls, a slate roof and tall flat headed windows. This chapel was reported as 'recently renovated' in 1998.
RCAHMW, August 2011 - Description: The chapel was built in 1896 (date plaque). Built in the Vernacular style, gable entry type. Status (1998): in chapel use. Main chapel walls of rubble stone walling rendered over with cement plaster facing, coated with a pebble (spar) dash finish. Two small lean-to extensions are adjoining the rear gable end which are probable toilet facilities. Roofs are of timber framing clad with Welsh slate. Building has been recently renovated. Exterior not as per the original finish. Upper gable façade windows infilled. Noteable features - panelled & balustered pulpit & gallery facia. At the back of gallery seating is 4 half turned newel posts built into the seating (approx 18" t0 24" above the top of the back of the pews (possible support for lighting). My great great grandparents were married in Kinnerton Chapel in Old Radnor on 21st May1850. I have been searching for information on the Chapel, so was pleased to find this website.
