- Summary: Tabernacle Baptist Chapel on Ashburnam Road was built in 1856, enlarged in 1865, and completely renovated in 1901. The present chapel, dated 1901. was designed by architects George Morgan and Son of Carmarthen and is built in the Sub-Classical style with a gable entry plan and round headed windows with florentine tracery glazing.
RCAHMW, August 2011 - Description: The chapel was formed in 1839. The first Ashburnam Road chapel was built in 1856, enlarged in 1865, and completely renovated in 1901. Built in the Sub-Classical style, gable entry type. Status (1998): in Baptist use.
The church (chapel) was formed in 1839 (1998 "Llawlyfr" of Undeb Bedyyddwyr Cymru); Baptists met in Siop y Lloft, while baptisms were conducted in Furnace stream (J A Nicholson, Pembrey & Burry Port 4 (:CCC, ca. 1994)). My great great grandparents were married in Kinnerton Chapel in Old Radnor on 21st May1850. I have been searching for information on the Chapel, so was pleased to find this website.
