- Summary: Garth Methodist Chapel was built 1845, and possibly designed by the architect Owen Morris Roberts of Porthmadog. It was enlarged and rebuilt in 1866, modified in 1878 and rebuilt again in 1898. The present chapel, dated 1898, is stone built in the Classical style with a gable entry plan and leaded windows.

Opened Sunday, 29 May, 1898. Built at a cost of 5000 to seat 800. Built of Minffordd & Tuhwnt-I'r-bwlch stone with Anglesey limestone dressings. "Style adopted is strictly classical........... Work of design and superintending entrusted to Messrs Owen Morris Roberts & Son, architects, Portmadoc"; the contractors were Messrs Samuel Roberts and/or W Owen & Co., Four Crosses, Pwllheli; the contract for pointing was awarded to Messrs Hughes & Griffiths, Portmadoc (N. Wales Chronicle, Sat. June 4, 1898). Owen Morris Roberts himself died in December, 1896, but the firm carried on; the chapel is contemporary with O.M. Roberts's Capel Moreia at Llangefni, with which there are stylistic similarities; the latter was opened in June, 1898, with specification probably, of 1896 (OMJ. 03/09/1997). - Established: 1845 Source:Plaque

My great great grandparents were married in Kinnerton Chapel in Old Radnor on 21st May1850. I have been searching for information on the Chapel, so was pleased to find this website.
