- Summary: Tabernacl Methodist Chapel was built in 1907 in the Arts and Crafts/Gothic style. The chapel was designed by architect James Cubitt of Swansea and built with a cruciform gable entry plan and integral tower. This chapel closed in 1968, was later used as a Synagague, then used by Bangor University, sold to a theatre company (Theatre Cymru) and finally converted into flats in 1988. The Tabernacl building is now Grade 2 listed.
RCAHMW, May 2011 - Description: Foundation stone laid 14th October 1903 (cost £10,000), chapel officially opened 2nd July 1905. The last service was held 29th September 1968. Built in the Romanesque and Sub-Classical style, gable entry type. A prominent feature of this Chapel is the integral tower. Present status [2008]: other coverted to flats
Built in 1907 as the new Tabernacle Welsh Calvinist Methodist chapel by James Cubitt in an Arts & Crafts Gothic style. Aisled chapel with transepts and tower; 5-bay Ruabon-brick interior. Attached building resembling a chapter house. My great great grandparents were married in Kinnerton Chapel in Old Radnor on 21st May1850. I have been searching for information on the Chapel, so was pleased to find this website.
