RCAHMW, December 2010 - Description: Built in 1827, enlarged 1845, closed 1992. Built in the Simple Round-Headed style, gable entry type. Present status [1998]: disused 1896 wing & façade built against long wall of 1827 chapel (information from A Mortimer, Chapels of North Montgomeryshire, NLW photo album 768).
Bethesda was originally established and built in 1827. It has a new facade of 1896. It closed in 1992 with an application of 1995 for conversion into four residential units. It has round-arched openings. The tall two-light windows were renewed in the late 20th century and deepened, but the side windows still with Y-tracery, formerly the last of these were divided into small panes by lead or iron cames, as in the rear wall of Capel Bethel (NPRN: 11423). It is possible that the tone, left hand 3-bay return was in part a former gable entry . It has a large stone gable, with its circular vent, extends over left hand and centre windows.
It has a red-brick, 5-bay 1896 facade towards road with ashlar band at tympanum level, inscribed: "Erected 1827/ Bethesda/ Enlarged 1896". At the centre three bays project and comprise flanking windows to a centre round-arched entrance in gabled porch. There is a further window in each recessed end bay, formerly these front windows were of two round-arched lights with circular foil over and descended only to their ashlar cill band. Now these windows have been deepened during conversion and Y-tracery inserted.
The front of the former chapel site still enclosed by dwarf wall, iron railings and gates with spear-headed finials. The gate piers with coping. Brick wall returns to former chapel on the right hand side. In 1998 it was disused. By 2003 it had been converted into four flats.

Hello
My great great grandparents were married in Kinnerton Chapel in Old Radnor on 21st May1850. I have been searching for information on the Chapel, so was pleased to find this website. I have now located it on Google Street View – looks like someone is ‘doing it up’ to live in: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@52.2612635,-3.1095337,3a,90y,232.95h,84.26t/data=!3m9!1e1!3m7!1s-8DWPORkq2RFVNXBLde_-g!2e0!7i13312!8i6656!9m2!1b1!2i53?hl=en-GB
The marriage record of my ancestors Abraham Bounds and Elizabeth Williams is attached. I hope it is of interest.
All the best
Saira
