- Summary: Glanhafren Welsh Independent Chapel was first built in 1828 and rebuilt in 1877. The later chapel was built in the Simple Round-Headed style with a gable entry plan. and sash windows with glazing bars and radiating heads, and has three bays to each of the long elevations. The south elevation is slate-hung, while the north and east are stone with yellow brick quoins and dressings. The entrance is in the east gable, with a plaque above which reads "Hen/ Capel/ 1828/ Glanhafren/ y/ newydd/ 1877". There are cottages attached to the west gable end, which is partially slate-hung. Glanhafren fell into disuse during the early twenty-first century.
RCAHMW, November 2010 - Description: Built in 1828/9 and rebuilt 1877. Slate-hung long wall roaadside elevation & l.h. gable; stone r.h. gable entry wall & rear long wall; simple round-headed style: round-arched sash windows with radiating tracery in the heads & horns. Oval plaque inscribed: "Hen/Gapel/1828/Glanhafren/y/newydd/1877". Adjoining house, and ?vestry, with corrugated ?iron cladding to long roadside elevation and l.h. gable. My great great grandparents were married in Kinnerton Chapel in Old Radnor on 21st May1850. I have been searching for information on the Chapel, so was pleased to find this website.
