- Summary: Dolanog Methodist Chapel was built in 1828, repaired in 1844, a ceiling installed in 1853 and further modified in 1877. Dolanog was rebuilt in 1904 as a memorial to Ann Griffiths, a Methodist hymn writer and regarded as one of the most important female figures in the history of Welsh literature. This chapel is built to the design of architect C. Dickens Lewis of Shrewsbury, in the Arts and Crafts Gothic style with a gable entry plan and tall leaded windows.
RCAHMW, November 2010 - Description: Chapel first built ca. 1828-30; repaired in 1844; ceiling installed in 1853; further repairs of 1877 (BCS database). Present chapel dates from 1903-4; memorial stone in porch dated May 19, 1903, & gives C.Dickens Lewis of Shrewsbury as architect & W R Thomas of Oswestry, as contractor (plaque). My great great grandparents were married in Kinnerton Chapel in Old Radnor on 21st May1850. I have been searching for information on the Chapel, so was pleased to find this website.
