- Summary: Tabernacle Congregational Chapel was built in 1811, rebuilt as the present structure in 1867 and renovated in 1911. This chapel was designed by architect Thomas Thomas of Landore and is built in the Gothic style with a gable entry plan and tracery glazing. Tabernacle is now Grade 2 Listed for its special architectural interest as a Gothic revival chapel of unusual elaboration.
RCAHMW, November 2010. - Description: A chapel was built in 1811 and rebuilt as the present structure in 1867. Built in the Gothic style. Status (2010): chapel Rubble stone with dressings, slated roof. Victorian. 1867 Gothic style. Narrow towers to front, one with small spire. Gates and standards. Walls/railings to front. 1993 PCNPA.
The cause was established (?) between 1691 and 1720 (Rawlins). A chapel was built in 1811 (date plaque & W.O.) or 1812 (1851 R. Census & Rawlins), and rebuilt as the present structure in 1867 (date plaque & W.O.; PCNPA); probably contemporary chapel gates and standards (W.O.). My great great grandparents were married in Kinnerton Chapel in Old Radnor on 21st May1850. I have been searching for information on the Chapel, so was pleased to find this website.
