RCAHMW, November 2010 - Description: The chapel was built in 1902 to a modification of the plans by the Derby architect, John Wills (cost £3700); Fred Couzens of Cardiff was the builder and replaced an earlier chapel on the corner of Robert Street and Dartmouth Street (NPRN 403715). Built in the Simple Gothic style, gable entry type. Status (2000): Chapel
The original chapel was built in 1831, Architect David Adams, for about '600.
By 1900 this old chapel was in serious disrepair and a building committee formed; raised funds by Sewing Meetings, Bazaars etc.
John Wills of Derby drew up the plans though they were modified due to cost. Holds 600 people. Schoolroom for 250 children, church parlour, vestry, kitchen, etc.
The builder was Fred Couzens of Cardiff.
Opened June 5th 1902 by Mrs JA Turner, widow of the former minister, who was presented with a silver key by the architect.
1916 Brindley & Foster organ installed for '1045-19s-6d ('1045.97 1/2p). Electric lighting and organ blower 1930 (Chapel History)
(Anthony Jones)
The church (chapel) was built in 1831 (Anthony Jones) or 1832 (1851 R. Census) to the design of David Adams, architect. By 1900 it was in disrepair, and was rebuilt in 1902 to a modification of the plans by the Derby architect, John Wills; Fred Couzens of Cardiff was the builder (Anthony Jones); it was opened on 05/06/1902. The organ, by Brindley and Foster, was installed in 1916 (Anthony Jones). Status (2000): in Methodist use.
No chapel is shown on this site on OS 1868-9; there was however a Wesleyan chapel at SM90200604 (NPRN 403715). It is likely that all references pre 1900 refer to this chapel which was replaced by a new one at Priory Road.

Hello
My great great grandparents were married in Kinnerton Chapel in Old Radnor on 21st May1850. I have been searching for information on the Chapel, so was pleased to find this website. I have now located it on Google Street View – looks like someone is ‘doing it up’ to live in: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@52.2612635,-3.1095337,3a,90y,232.95h,84.26t/data=!3m9!1e1!3m7!1s-8DWPORkq2RFVNXBLde_-g!2e0!7i13312!8i6656!9m2!1b1!2i53?hl=en-GB
The marriage record of my ancestors Abraham Bounds and Elizabeth Williams is attached. I hope it is of interest.
All the best
Saira
