RCAHMW, November 2010 - Description: The chapel was built in 1828. It was rebuilt in 1878 , to the design of the Carmarthen architect, George Morgan. Cost £2425. In 1926-7 the schoolroom and hall were added, to the design of the Carmarthen architect, J Howard Morgan. Built in the Gothic style. Status (1998): Chapel
1878 and 1926 uncoursed snecked limestone with sandstone features/windows. Slate roof. Gothic style. Hall adjacent, forming large complex. Railings and walls to front. 1993 PCNPA.
Site obtained for 180 in 1878 from William Davies. Chapel opened Sept 3rd 1879. Seats for 650, cost 2427. Debt removed 1909. Gothic style, rather unlike George's usual style though there are a few hints of the Romanesque - he'd been using this for the Dinas Noddfa, Bethesda, and Frogmore Street chapels. Double entrance doors, eleborate pediment-surrounds, fake butresses and pinnacles. Sidewall butresses also interspersed with lancet windows. Neatly and highly-coursed dressed stone. Large Gothic style pulpit inside with an apse behind to house gallery and choir, doesn't connect to the same roof level so the back of the chapel has a larger roofline. Good work throughout.
"Memorial School added 1922 by Havard Morgan FRIBA of Carmarthen, George's son. Contractors were Gomer Morris, Llanidloes, for 3833. ("Short History of Baptist Church").

Hello
My great great grandparents were married in Kinnerton Chapel in Old Radnor on 21st May1850. I have been searching for information on the Chapel, so was pleased to find this website. I have now located it on Google Street View – looks like someone is ‘doing it up’ to live in: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@52.2612635,-3.1095337,3a,90y,232.95h,84.26t/data=!3m9!1e1!3m7!1s-8DWPORkq2RFVNXBLde_-g!2e0!7i13312!8i6656!9m2!1b1!2i53?hl=en-GB
The marriage record of my ancestors Abraham Bounds and Elizabeth Williams is attached. I hope it is of interest.
All the best
Saira
