- Summary: Ffynnon Baptist Chapel was built in 1720, modified in 1787 and rebuilt in 1832. The present chapel, dated 1832, is built in the Sub-Classical style with a square plan and hipped roof. Ffynnon is now Grade 2 Listed as an almost unaltered Chapel (apart from window details and a new ceiling) with a fine gallery and pulpit.
RCAHMW, November 2010 - Description: The chapel was built 1720, modified, altered or rebuilt in 1787, 1831-2 and 1850. Short-wall entry type. Status (1998): chapel
Early C19. Rendered rubble stone, hipped slated roof, plain eaves. Transitional façade. Keyed stone arches to openings. Set within informal walled graveyard. 1993 PCNPA.
Gallery columns from the same foundry as those of Capel Carvan in Lampeter Velfrey Community (information from Cadw list description of 15/10/1997).
Once it was a terrific building in a dazzling white set on a hill to the right of the old A40 west. In the late 1960's it was cemented over and its dirty drab grey spoils its subtle crisp design. Square plan. Hipped roof. Small windows. Galleried interior is good; date of 1832 on a pillar.
Good "coffin plan" grave markers just outside the door.

A meeting house was established at Ffynnon Farm in 1720 (Cadw), and a church formed in 1779 (1998 Llawlyfr of Undeb Bedyddwyr Cymru) and incorporated in 1794 (Cadw); the chapel was rebuilt in 1831-2 (Cadw; PCNPA), with the present interior (Cadw), e.g., gallery column of 1832 (Cadw). The 1851 Religious Census states that the chapel was rebuilt near the pre-1800 site in 1850. Status (1998): in Baptist use. - Gallery Added: c.1832 Source:Welsh Office

Many thanks for the lovely photograph
Hello
My great great grandparents were married in Kinnerton Chapel in Old Radnor on 21st May1850. I have been searching for information on the Chapel, so was pleased to find this website. I have now located it on Google Street View – looks like someone is ‘doing it up’ to live in: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@52.2612635,-3.1095337,3a,90y,232.95h,84.26t/data=!3m9!1e1!3m7!1s-8DWPORkq2RFVNXBLde_-g!2e0!7i13312!8i6656!9m2!1b1!2i53?hl=en-GB
The marriage record of my ancestors Abraham Bounds and Elizabeth Williams is attached. I hope it is of interest.
All the best
Saira
