From "A short history of Sutton Chapel";
"The brethren first met in cottages around Sutton in 1836...came to the attention of Rev. (David) Davies of Haverfordwest Baptists College. He arranged the exchange of a piece of land in the town for one in Sutton which he then gave to the congregation on which to build the chapel. It was completed and opened by July 1839. The present day system of building differs considerably from that of the old days. Our modern practice is first to engage an architect to draw up plans and specifications, and to then invite tenders for the work which is completed by the contractors at a specified sum agreed upon. Sutton chapel chapel, however, was not let on a contract and built in that way, because we are in possession of documents which show that a considerable amount of building material of varoius description was bought by the Trustees from John Jardine of Haverfordwest (builder's merchants) the first purchase being made on June 7th 1837 and this continued until May 1839. The various purchases included pitch pine, deal, mamel deal, white lead, linseed oil, hearth laths, dry hair, sprigs, spikes and paint. The materials were bought and the work done by men paid on a day-by-day basis until the building was finished".

The church (chapel) was formed in 1834 (1998 Llawlyfr of Undeb Bedyddwyr Cymru), members first meeting in cottages around Sutton Green, in 1836 (Short history of Sutton chapel). Hello
My great great grandparents were married in Kinnerton Chapel in Old Radnor on 21st May1850. I have been searching for information on the Chapel, so was pleased to find this website. I have now located it on Google Street View – looks like someone is ‘doing it up’ to live in: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@52.2612635,-3.1095337,3a,90y,232.95h,84.26t/data=!3m9!1e1!3m7!1s-8DWPORkq2RFVNXBLde_-g!2e0!7i13312!8i6656!9m2!1b1!2i53?hl=en-GB
The marriage record of my ancestors Abraham Bounds and Elizabeth Williams is attached. I hope it is of interest.
All the best
Saira
