- Summary: Tabernacle Methodist Chapel was built in 1822, remodelled in 1837 and in 1869 sold to the Calvinistic Methodists. In 1886 the front was remodelled and raised, a schoolroom built in 1892 and in 1894 the interior renovated with new windows and a new roof. The present chapel building, dated 1886, is built in the Sub-Classical and Simple Gothic style with a gable-entry plan. During the late twentieth century Tabernacle closed and the building was converted for use as a childrens indoor activity centre. The CADW Grade 2 Listing is for the design of the chapel front and its prominence in the townscape.

This chapel was originally built as a Congregational chapel but later became Presbyterian.
The chapel was built in 1822 (1851 R. Census), opening then as a Congregational Church (Welsh Office). Ca. 1868 the Congregationalists moved to South Parade (NPRN: 10999), and their Lower Frog Street Church was sold to the Calvinistic Methodists (Welsh Office); the front was remodelled & raised in 1886 and the interior renovated in 1894 (WO). Status (1997): disused (since 1993).

My great great grandparents were married in Kinnerton Chapel in Old Radnor on 21st May1850. I have been searching for information on the Chapel, so was pleased to find this website.
