- Summary: Zion Methodist Chapel was built in 1828, a gallery installed in 1851 and rebuilt in 1866. The present chapel, dated 1866, is built in the Simple Round-Headed style, with a long-wall entry plan. The interior contains pews raked down to a gable-end pulpit. The school was built in 1845 and named after the teacher, Phillip Gunters's School. Zion is now Grade 2 Listed a a fine early grouping of chapel, school and house.

Stone/slate. Pebbledashed with surrounds to openings. Primitive façade with lateral entry. Railed and gated forecourt, with piers. 1993 PCNPA.
'A gallery is in the course of erection for 50 more sittings'. Religious Census 1851.
Well designed complex of chapel, vestry and small house all in a row from left to right. Bold quoining on the sidewall façade at edges and around windows, with equally strong mouldings for a podium line and around door and window heads. Pebble-dash elsewhere. Good plaque.

A Sunday School was begun in 1824 and a day school in 1845 (Cadw). The chapel was built in 1828 (1851 R. Census & date plaque); a gallery was inserted in 1851 (Cadw) and the chapel rebuilt in 1866 (date plaque; Cadw); the chapel house was built from 1866 (Cadw). Status (2000): in chapel use.

My great great grandparents were married in Kinnerton Chapel in Old Radnor on 21st May1850. I have been searching for information on the Chapel, so was pleased to find this website.
