Merthyr Express for Saturday March 10, 1877 gives a brief account of the renovated chapel as part of its report on the re-opening services. A "leading religious event of the week---in connection with the re-opening of the above neat and comfortably arranged place of worship", which has undergone a "complete renovation" ..and "decidedly marked improvement". The church was formerly built over 4 houses, with very squalid arrangements, and the houses have been done away with. The report refers to front & side galleries in the "upper space that was formerly the chapel". It could now accommodate 340-400 and was now "undoubtedly one of the prettiest, neatest and attractive English places of worship in the valley....especially the interior". Cost: 600-800. The contract was "taken out by Mr Stephen Davies, Beaufort, who, some years ago, built Carmel and Barham chapels, Beaufort. .......Mr Davies has done his work well......Architecturally..the outside presents nothing novel or uncommon......entrance is gained without having to climb a dangerous flight of steps as was the case with the original entrance. ...The architectural arrangements were entrusted to the late Mr W. Gabe, Merthyr......Services began Sunday morning [4 March 1877] in Tabernacle".... - Renovated: 1899 Source:Watkins, Edgar

Hello
My great great grandparents were married in Kinnerton Chapel in Old Radnor on 21st May1850. I have been searching for information on the Chapel, so was pleased to find this website. I have now located it on Google Street View – looks like someone is ‘doing it up’ to live in: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@52.2612635,-3.1095337,3a,90y,232.95h,84.26t/data=!3m9!1e1!3m7!1s-8DWPORkq2RFVNXBLde_-g!2e0!7i13312!8i6656!9m2!1b1!2i53?hl=en-GB
The marriage record of my ancestors Abraham Bounds and Elizabeth Williams is attached. I hope it is of interest.
All the best
Saira
