- Summary: Summerhill Baptist Chapel was built in 1866 to the design of architects Habershon & Fawckner of Newport. The chapel was then rebuilt/modified in 1878 (vestry and 7 classrooms, organ and organ loft), 1889( organ moved and galleries built), 1893 (stained glass window) and 1907-8 (new front vestibule, lighting, heating and ventilation systems and extension). The present chapel is built in the Romanesque style with a gable-entry plan, two storeys and a wheel window with stained glass. Summerhill is now Grade 2 Listed as an interesting essentially mid-nineteenth century chapel.
RCAHMW, September 2010 - Description: Built in 1866, architects Habershon & Fawckner? and builder R.Webber, modified, altered or rebuilt 1878, 1889, 1893 and 1907-8. Present status [1998]: Chapel Daughter churches established elsewhere in E Newport included Corporation Road Baptist Church, and Penylan Baptist Church, still extant, and Riverside, used by another denomination.......At Summerhill, the major alterations of 1907-8 included a new front vestibule, gallery entrances, new lighting, heating and a ventilation system (OMJ; information from Cadw list description of 23/10/1998.)

My great great grandparents were married in Kinnerton Chapel in Old Radnor on 21st May1850. I have been searching for information on the Chapel, so was pleased to find this website.
