- Summary: Libanus Baptist Chapel was firat built in 1858, modified in 1867 and rebuilt/remodelled in 1908. The 1908 chapel was built in the Classical style with a gable-entry plan and two storeys. By 1996 this chapel had fallen into disuse owing to subsidence. Libanus is now Grade 2 Listed for its significance as the mother church of Non Conformism in this part of the Rhondda and for its rich interior.
RCAHMW, September 2010 - Description: Built in 1840, builders Edwards & Morgan, modified, altered or rebuilt 1858, 1867 and 1908. Built in the Classical style, gable entry type. Present status [1997]: disused Built 1839/1858, seating 550.
The Mother Church of Nonconformism in this part of the Rhondda. At the time of resurvey, the building had suffered intermittently from subsidence and was closed (information from Cadw list description of 02/04/1996).
In 2005, the chapel was listed inCapel Newsletter as structurally unsound and was likely to be demolished.

My great great grandparents were married in Kinnerton Chapel in Old Radnor on 21st May1850. I have been searching for information on the Chapel, so was pleased to find this website.
