- Summary: Ainon Baptist Chapel was built in 1886 in the Sub-Classical and Romanesque style of the gable-entry type. This chapel has two storeys and round-headed windows with margin glazing. Ainon is now Grade 2 Listed as a good example of a late nineteenth century chapel with a largely unaltered design and unusual cast iron interior fittings.
RCAHMW, September 2010 - Description: Built in 1886. Built in the Sub-Classical and Romanesque style, gable entry type. Present status [1998]: Chapel Built 1884. The chapel is still in use as a place of worship. The interior and exterior are in a reasonable state of repair but some renovations and repair are needed. An unusual feature remains from when the building was illuminated with gas in the form of the original ornamental gas lamp brackets of which there remain a number. My great great grandparents were married in Kinnerton Chapel in Old Radnor on 21st May1850. I have been searching for information on the Chapel, so was pleased to find this website.
